What should the government do about the AIG bonuses?

the government owns 80% of the company liquidate it sell all their blu chip investors pay yourself off; why are we so afraid if AIG goes down it will have a domino effect in the world? it had a ripple effect thats all ; Vietnams fall did not have a domino effect in Asia history tells us.

I have been insisting everybody is at fault to a certain degree but I fault the regulators, these failed titans who now seek taxpayers' money to save their portfolios or pass them on to the government for $ 700 billion dollars .These are bad losses that should been charged to the books of AIG MERILL …

How about the other regulators or independent auditors? what did they have to say; what were their reports like on CDO's , Mortgaged back securities, equity debt swaps, off balance sheet liabilities? The SEC head knew something will implode, the Treasury, Mr. Paulson a wall streeter himself and Mr.

The Feds are using fear as the big stick to get Capitol hill to capitulate at the cost of billions of dollars in bailout money. I appplaud speaker Nancy Felosi and others in the political aisle for having their reservations.

No this government move does not restore my confidence in the economy because the Feds are partly the cause of this titanic mess. The SEC seems to be caught napping. The Treasury is just reacting to the crisis by creating more debts for us.

Neron Kesar I agree with your proposals on this rescue by the government of these failed institutions except I would add these comments and incorporate them in the current debate on why the taxpayers always wind up paying for these failures:
